No matter where you settle down in Atlanta, chances are there will be several golf courses to play nearby. After all, the area boasts well over 100 of Georgia’s more than 400 public, private and semi-private courses, offering everything from a challenging afternoon of 18-hole regulation play to a quick round of golf on one of its executive Par-3 courses. Plus, mild winters and an average annual temperature of 61 degrees give you the chance to tee off more than 300 days of the year, making Atlanta the ideal home for avid golfers.To make your house feel like a home, a growing number of Atlanta’s developers are adding a key amenity to their new communities,golf, reflecting a nationwide trend in golf course development. In 2005, 61 percent of golf course openings were built in conjunction with a real estate development, the reverse of the mid-1990s when only 35-40 percent of new courses were real estate-related, according to the National Golf Foundation.While living on the links may seem like a perk reserved for affluent home buyers, Atlanta’s relatively low housing costs make it a surprisingly affordable option, even in some of the area’s luxury developments.
