Moving is a big change for your family. Fortunately for you and your family, you’re moving to Atlanta, a beautiful city packed with family-friendly neighborhoods, top-performing schools and an array of cultural attractions. Your children are going to want to know what color they can paint their room, what their new school is like and they’ll wonder how they’ll make new friends. Our family moving guide has everything you and your children need to plan a smooth move and how to get settled into your new home.
Tips for Parents
As your children grow older and make solid friendships, the harder it is for them to pack up and move to a new town. You can help ease the transition by including them in the moving process. An easy way to help them look forward to their new home is allowing them some say in the design of their new room. A kid’s room is their kingdom. You’ll see more smiles on moving day, if your child can pick out a few new pieces of furniture, suggest a wall color or buy a few new accessories, such as pillow shams, throw rugs and bed spreads.
If your children are old enough, assign them “moving day tasks.” Your children can be in charge of any family pets, labeling boxes and planning activities for your first day in Atlanta.
