Six Flags Over Georgia History
Opened on June 16, 1967 in Austell, Six Flags Over Georgia has grown exponentially and is the second Six Flags park opened in the U.S., following the original park in Arlington, Texas.
“Six Flags Over Georgia holds a special place in the hearts of many park guests and team members,” Six Flags Atlanta Properties Park President Dale Kaetzel said in a press release. “While the definition of thrills has certainly changed over the years, Six Flags Over Georgia continues to deliver rides that span generations and stand the test of time.”
The park has more than 40 rides and attractions, including 12 roller coasters and rides featuring Warner Bros. characters, like DC Comics superheroes and the Looney Tunes.
On May 26, Six Flags Over Georgia opened a new 4D ride Justice League: Battle for Metropolis. Riders work along with DC’s mightiest heroes (Batman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the Justice League) to defeat Lex Luthor, the Joker and the villain’s henchmen.
Batman: The Ride, an exhilarating ride that reaches speeds of 50 mph and has twists, loops and drops, is among one of the parks more popular rides. Mind Bender, which features a triple-loop, was ranked the 15th best coaster by Amusement Today.
