This close-knit community in the northwestern part of Georgia is just 15 miles south of Atlanta. One of the smallest counties in the state, Fayette County is home to more than 106,000 residents who can all enjoy a wide range of transportation options. Interstate highways: I-75, I-285, I-85 and state highways: 54, 74, 85, 92, 279 and 314 all pass through the county for practical access to and from outlying cities. Fayetteville, the county seat, is a key feature of the area with a shining assortment of independent shops, businesses, restaurants and Old Fayette County Courthouse--included in the National Register of Historic Sites. Peachtree City, the most successful pre-planned city in the Southeast, adds to the local appeal. Educational opportunities abound with 30 schools in the communities of Brooks, Fayetteville, Peachtree City, Tyrone and Woolsey. While entertainment in the county includes a wealth of recreational activities and events including golf among Fayette’s six golf courses and a lively St. Patty’s festival in the city of Tyrone.
