Paulding County
Once devoted to agriculture (particularly livestock, corn, oats, pecans and poultry), Paulding has taken an industrial turn in the last few years, leading to substantial growth in the county. Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport, which opened November 2008, was built to anticipate the continued growth the county had experienced in the last several years—it has consistently ranked as one of the top 10 fastest growing counties in the country over the past 10 years. Adjacent to a 1,000-acre technology and industrial park, the 750-acre airport is jet capable and equipped with the best navigational technologies. To further illustrate Paulding’s growth, it was rated by CNN’s Money Magazine in 2007 as the 20th best place for job growth in the U.S. Top employers in the area aside from the board of education and county government are Wal-mart Associates Inc., Kroger, WellStar Health System Inc. and Publix Super Markets.
More than 60 percent of the county’s population is made up of people who have relocated to the area. A thriving business community mixed with such pleasing attributes as the Silver Comet Trail, a community theater, museums, one of the best-preserved historic battlefields in the country, shopping, dining and thriving downtown areas in towns like Dallas and Hiram make this up-and-comer a great place to live and work.
Excellent schools with low student/teacher ratios are another plus for Paulding County. Existing schools have all been recently renovated with modern additions, and many of the area’s schools have been recognized for educational excellence.
