Rockdale County   Minimize

It’s been said that big things come in small packages. Despite being Georgia’s second-smallest county, Rockdale has experienced substantial growth in recent years. Twenty-five miles from downtown Atlanta, Rockdale offers commercial diversity for business, and a variety of opportunities for families.

Rockdale’s myriad recreational spaces are enjoyed by residents and visitors alike, but also serve as a history lesson—the county hosted the 1996 Olympic biking and pentathlon events, and is home to Georgia International Horse Park, the site of the Games’ equestrian competitions.

Conyers serves as Rockdale’s only city, and is its center of commercial and civic life. Olde Towne, Conyers’ downtown area, is the site of several popular festivals and community events, in addition to shopping, dining, entertainment, and the Lewis Vaughn Botanical Garden.

Over the years, Rockdale County has attracted several major employers, including Rockdale Medical Center, Acuity Lighting Group, Hill-Phoenix, Bio-Lab and the Solo Cup Company. The presence of these industries provide the basis for the area’s prominence as a medical and manufacturing center, and new businesses can take strength in the welcoming, progressive approach the county takes towards its growth.

Rockdale’s schools perform well when stacked against state and national averages. Alternately, a variety of private schools widen the options that are available in the K-12 level.

The population of Rockdale is on the rise and business activity is keeping pace. Still, Rockdale is content remaining a primarily suburban community with commercial activity centered in Conyers.
