Central Michigan University

Central Michigan University’s satellite center in metro Atlanta offers quality, accredited master’s degrees designed for working students. Classes meet locally in the evening or on weekends in compressed terms with degree completion possible in less than two years. CMU students rave about the school’s career-focused content and exceptional student services. Additional bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees are available online for added convenience and flexibility. Founded in 1892, Central Michigan University has evolved into a major, national university with nearly 27,000 students, approximately 35 remote locations in the U.S. and Canada, top-ranked online programs, and nearly 215,000 alumni worldwide.

Clayton State University

The U.S. News & World Report ranking of colleges identified Clayton State as having the most diverse student body population among comprehensive baccalaureate-level colleges and universities in the Southern United States six times in the past decade. Additionally, Clayton State’s College of Business ranked No. 7 on the list of the top 15 business schools in metro Atlanta for 2016 with the highest enrollment in the Master of Business Administration program, according to The Atlanta Business Chronicle.

Degrees Offered: Degrees are offered through the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business, Health and Information and Mathematical Sciences, and the School of Graduate Studies, as well as through Career and Professional Education.

New Programs/Initiatives: Clayton State continues to seek ways to meet the goals of today’s workforce by offering education to individuals at any time in their career. The university has announced it is offering employees with the Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO) the opportunity to pursue a business degree. The agreement between the university and GEICO establishes a corporate reimbursement program whereby employees can earn a Bachelor of Business Administration with majors in general business or management at Clayton State’s College of Business.

Georgia Institute of Technology

Georgia Tech is a public research university committed to improving the human condition through advanced science and technology. Ranked the No. 7 best public university, Georgia Tech provides a focused, technologically based education to undergraduate and graduate students. Georgia Tech has many nationally recognized programs, all top-ranked by peers and publications alike, and is ranked in the nation’s top 10 public universities by U.S. News and World Report.

Degrees Offered: Degrees are offered through the Colleges of Design, Computing, Engineering and Sciences, the Scheller College of Business and the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts.

New Programs/Initiatives: In 2014, Georgia Tech started the Atlanta Public Schools (APS) Scholars program to recruit, enroll, support and graduate the most academically talented students in the city school system. This year’s freshman class includes APS Scholars from 11 of the 13 high schools in the district. Under the program, which started with the incoming class of 2015, Georgia Tech offers automatic admission to all APS valedictorians and salutatorians who apply and covers four years of in-state tuition and mandatory fees.

This year, the university will move forward with 11 recommendations from the Black Student Experience Task Force, which was formed in fall 2015 to ensure a welcoming and inclusive campus.

Georgia State University

Georgia State is one of the University System of Georgia’s four research universities and a national leader in graduating students from widely diverse backgrounds. The Downtown Atlanta university has cultivated the ability to detect early when students face obstacles affecting their studies. As a result, Georgia State has achieved national acclaim as a leader in creating innovative approaches that get students back on track and successfully headed to graduation.

Degrees Offered: The university offers 250 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in more than 100 fields of study in its nine colleges and schools: Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, Byrdine F. Lewis School of Nursing and Health Professions, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education and Human Development, College of Law, Honors College, Perimeter College and School of Public Health.

New Programs/Initiatives: In January, 2016, Georgia State merged with Georgia Perimeter College with a goal to increase graduation rates at the new Perimeter College at Georgia State.

Kennesaw State University

Located about 20 miles northwest of Atlanta, KSU is a public, co-educational university that offers a wide range of quality academics, a vibrant campus life, award-winning dining and many athletic choices. As Georgia’s third-largest university and one of the 50 largest public universities in the country, Kennesaw State offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degrees, including an increasing number of doctoral programs. New Programs/Initiatives: Launched in spring 2016, the Center for Diversity Leadership and Engagement was created to foster a welcoming, diverse and inclusive environment. In January 2015, Kennesaw State and Southern Polytechnic State University consolidated to create one of the 50 largest public universities in the country.

Savannah College of Art & Design Atlanta

Degrees Offered: SCAD offers 42 majors and 60 minors, including six undergraduate and 19 graduate online degrees. Atlanta-based programs include advertising, animation, branded entertainment, business design and arts leadership, fashion, fashion marketing and management, film and television, graphic design, illustration, interactive design and game development, interior design, luxury and fashion management, motion media design, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, sequential art, television producing, visual effects and writing.

New Programs/Initiatives: The university’s undergraduate and graduate interior design programs have been named No. 1 in the nation for 2016 by DesignIntelligence. This is the fifth consecutive year that SCAD’s undergraduate interior design program has been awarded the top ranking on the annual “America’s Best Architecture and Design Schools” list. SCAD has led the annual list since 2012.

Life University

This private university is renowned for its Doctor of Chiropractic, which is taught at the largest single campus chiropractic college in the world and offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs in health and wellness-oriented fields of study.

New Programs/Initiatives: In fall 2016, Life added a Bachelor of Science in culinary nutrition to its top-ranked nutrition department.
