Clayton State University is located 15 miles from downtown Atlanta in a beautiful
lakeside setting which is complemented by the resources available with its proximity
to a major, vibrant metropolitan hub. Additional instructional sites provide
outreach to neighboring community populations, and eCore online classes extend
educational alternatives.
With an enrollment of 6,800 students, Clayton State embraces the rich cultural
and socio-economic diversity of the greater Atlanta region through its diverse
faculty, its multi-ethnic and multigenerational student population, its successful
alumni working in the area, and the wide variety of clubs and organizational
activities for students. The Clayton State classroom experience is led by a
highly regarded faculty with academic and business-world expertise in their
fields. The University fosters learning and excellence through integrated academic
instruction encompassing a technological classroom environment, internships
and student research.
Four new buildings have dramatically changed and enhanced academics and campus
life at Clayton State. The LAB Building provides laboratory space for sciences
and psychology as well as classrooms. A new facility houses the AACSB-accredited
College of Business. Laker Hall, a 451 bed student housing structure, was Georgia’s
first gigaplex residence hall. The 62,000 square foot Student Activities Center
containins a state-of-the-art Fitness Center, game room, student organization
office space, and a ballroom. The Clayton State main campus increased from 163
acres to 175 acres recently with the purchase of the Atlanta Bible College property,
now known as Clayton State – East. In summer 2011, the University expanded
student housing options with the addition of Clayton Station apartments adjacent
to campus.
Spivey Hall is one of the nation’s premier chamber music venues, presenting
annually more than 400 events. The Hall’s annual concert series offers
world-class musicians performing timeless music in an acoustically perfect place.
Known for its commitment to education outreach, performance and touring opportunities
attract aspiring youth to the Spivey Hall Children’s Choir.
The University’s Athletics program features 12 sports and competes in
NCAA Division II in the Peach Belt Athletic Conference. The Clayton State Lakers
2010-2011 Women’s Basketball team won the NCAA Division II National Championship
in March 2011.
