The Town Center at Pinewood Forest Creative Community Offers a Truly Distinctive Lifestyle Experience in the Heart of Town

Following the tenets of new urbanism, which promotes environmentally friendly living through the creation of walkable neighborhoods, the Town Center is a 25-acre European-meets-Southern-inspired food and retail district that offers residents—as well as visitors—everything they could want in terms of entertainment, recreation, wellness, multifamily living and more. “The Town Center at Pinewood Forest will be a dynamic place centered around great food, entertainment, wellness and the arts,” explains Bill Lynch, project director for Pinewood Forest. Plans call for more than a dozen chef-driven food concepts, 90,000 square feet of retail space, two hotels, an eight-screen movie theater, a collaborative working space, the 60,000-square-foot Piedmont Wellness Center and more, all located within a seven- to 10-minute walk from anywhere in town. And the destination is already drawing some impressive names; Pancake Social café and coffeehouse (from James Beard award-winning chef Anne Quatrano and Octane Coffee founder Tony Riffel) and Atlanta favorites Honeysuckle Gelato, Hop City and Barleygarden are all slated to call the Town Center home, as will a new concept called Braise from James Beard grant-winning chef Tanya Jimenez Le. “Carefully curated, chef-driven food concepts, together with experiential retail, create the kind of walkable downtown that people love,” Lynch adds.
Pinewood Forest broke ground on the Town Center in mid-2018 with the Piedmont Wellness Center and launched the first 263 multifamily residences and 60,000 square feet of retail in November of 2018. The next phases of the project are underway, and the core of the Town Center will take shape in the fourth quarter of 2019 and the first half of 2020. “Designed and built with retail at the street level and three stories of multifamily above, Pinewood Forest is urban in its density yet extremely approachable,” Parker notes. “We’ll continue to add additional residential, retail, restaurant and entertainment options over the years ahead and introduce a lineup of programming in our town square called Central Plaza, which will be the home of festivals, markets, outdoor movie nights and concerts. Town Center at Pinewood Forest will be the epicenter of life for Pinewood and South Metro, and we are excited to bring a fun and dynamic place to our community where residents and guests can enjoy their best life together. We are designing it to inspire and nourish all who are there.”
The same philosophy has been applied to the residential side of Pinewood Forest, which welcomes home buyers and renters with an array of home styles and options. When the town is complete, it will feature 600 single-family homes, 100 townhomes, 650 multifamily apartment units and 50 tiny homes that are built to the highest standards possible. According to Parker, “No two homes are alike at Pinewood Forest, but they all have exceptional quality, and all are either fronting on a park or within a block of a park.” What’s more, every home features spectacular architecture and has its own private living and dining space in a Charleston garden-style courtyard; all residences also have access to 118 additional acres of nature preserve, parks, green space and trails. And to complement the incredible Town Center, the community will have an entire suite of additional amenities, such as a Summerour-designed pool complex with a luxury pool, shade cabanas and changing facilities anchoring the west end of Central Park. The park also will boast a children’s playground; athletic fields; tennis, basketball and pickleball courts; a fishing lake and gardens and access to a nearby dog park within the community.
